Agreements really can make a difference. The practice of dentistry is a daily challenge in working with a group of talented staff. As a dental business coach, I’ve learned that there is a real difference between TEAM and STAFF and one of the keys to having a successful team is to incorporate stated or written AGREEMENTS.
Be the Team Leader
As the leader of your team, you set the standard. Your dental practice should be run according to your standards. AGREEMENTS are an important part of working together as a team.
Time as a Team
One of the agreements when working with a talented team is TIME. Blatchford Coaching suggests initiating being on TIME as a team. What does being on time mean to you? Does, “On time,” have the same meaning for everyone on your team? Being on time must be defined in a stated or written agreement. What does it mean to you as the leader and how does being on time become part of your culture, part of your important marketing strategy? Bring it up at your next meeting and find out what being on time means to your team.
Don’t be Late
Maybe it is you, the leader, who struggles with time. How is your team going to respect your use of TIME as a team if you are arriving 20 minutes late for your morning meeting? If you have lost the love for your dental practice, you may not care that you are twenty minutes late for your first appointment.
The Doctor must be the first at the office, and if for some reason you cannot make it, it is imperative that you have a good team to cover your appointments. You should be the first to arrive in the morning with everyone leaving the office at the same time.
How does the leader define, “On time?” Is it just getting out of your car in the parking lot being on time? Is finishing your breakfast at the morning huddle being on time? Are you constantly sluggish because you don’t feel like practicing dentistry anymore? Is leaving early when a hygiene patient cancels being conscious of time? When your team sees you respecting your time they will be more diligent about TIME as a team.
Dental appointments are made and kept with the promise of you, the practicing dentist, and the team leader being on time. A defined TIME agreement with the whole team is essential to your success. As strong dental business coaches, all have been or are practicing dentists, we coach our Doctors to have time as a priority. Time is one of the key factors when it comes to increasing your net while spending more time away from your dental practice.
Make the move from staff to team by making strong agreements with your team. When you think about your practice, your conduct, and your time management, you are making the transition from staff to team with thought provoking Agreements.
When you make the best use of your time, you can increase your revenue while motivating your team at the same time. Motivation is the key when it comes to making your dental practice work for you.
More Free Time for the Mind Body and Spirit
If taking more vacations is your motivation for a successful dental practice, Blatchford Dental Coaching can help you get there. If you have a family who can only get away once or twice a year because of your dental practice, you will quickly lose your passion for your chosen career. Once that happens, you will become complacent about your practice and your team.
A good dental coach can help you enjoy going to work every single day. With Blatchford Solutions, you can become more fulfilled in one of the most lucrative professions on the planet. Wouldn’t it be great to work three days a week making more money than you did when you were putting in 40 hours a week? Of course it would.
